New bench scope

I actually have the Veho VMS-004.

Maybe I'll give it another chance, but so far. I am not all that happy.

I also use a 40x - 400x bench microscope to do finer viewing.
I merely suggested the VEHO as an inexpensive scope for those who are on a tight budget. Like me................:beer2:

was asking about a 'scope and was going to tell him the size of the marks we are looking at. I guessed 10 micron?

Do you happen to know how wide the space is between the leds? I'm worried I wouldn't be able to center the edge of a razor or knife between them without the spine bumping up against them or blocking the light.

200x is more than adequate. And most likely will be a bit too fussy for getting good depth of focus. 100x has been working well for me lately. Strong enough to see what's going on, but also gives a bit more of a broader view of things.

The AM451 has 3 lenses 50x, 100x~200x, 400x~600x

It is pretty flexible and has a 1.3MB CMOS sensor.

You will have to consider the geometry of how those LEDs will light a razor.

When I look at a razor, I always tilt it up at an angle, so that I am looking at the actual cutting edge, not just the side of the bevel. See the Zowada website for a picture of his setup to do this.

If the illumination is way down low, like shown in that pic, you will not be able to tilt your razor up and get proper illumination.

Just my two cents...

W as hoping that having illumination situated low might permit me a good look at the edge without tilting the razor.

That should permit me some flexibility about how I place the razor.
