The blade is in what I consider pretty poor condition.
I do not care what it says on the tang or the scales.
Yeah I can't tell if it's shadows or hone wear near the heel. I'm not good at seeing that so I don't bid lol
That seller often has pitted razors that have been extensively buffed. I wonder why not this one. LOL. I will have to see where this goes. Hype is an interesting thing.
magnified, I am fairly certain 9though nothing is 100%) that the pitting in the center of the blade on the show side is very deep. Buffing this one out would have resulted in no blade left.
It will go for more than its worth, like many other blades, simply because people gotta have it!
I haven't seen too many in any better shape than that. I guess it is less risky to run it as is rather than try and slick it up and possibly mess it up. As it is the thing will probably bring a big return.
Did I hear my name being called?
I have to admit it makes my mouth water but I don't think I would bid much more than where it's at and I suspect it will go for more than what it's worth like magpie said. There are a few ducks I still don't have but I have resigned to finding them in the wild for cheap. I may die first :<0)
I recon I could get that blade looking pretty damn good, but I would pass simply because of the rather large crack in the scales.
Here we are Jimmy, I've downloaded the image and there's probably more than one crack it's even starting to travel through the other side of the D and L , I can see two but who knows there could be a few more?

Yea, it's in average shape for those razors. Too bad when they were new and in use folks didn't know what they would be worth in present times.
I sold an absolute mint Goldedge 6/8 square point only a few months back, I would love to own a minty Lifetime Grim Reaper, but to me those scales got to be spot on, with so much metal work on them I bet there's a very high chance of cracks appearing and probably one of the reasons they are not many survivors around today.
As much as I think most "must have" razors are not that exciting, the Reapers are an absolutely iconic razor.
I think there are some other Grim Reapers that are much more affordable.
Hahahaha....well I guess some of us were asleep at the switch.
I had a watch on it, figured I wouldn't stand a chance, so wasn't that concerned...just went and looked:
It sold for $290!!!!
For a Grim Reaper, that was a steal...I mean a fine deal!
edit to add: just looked at the bids, one bidder got sniped by 12 seconds...that must of hurt!
It wasn't me this time :<0).
I was driving home from work during the last few seconds of the auction. I admit I was glancing.
Speaking of driving 10pups, I was headed your way for family time at the money pit in Anaheim and lost two suitcases going about 70 on the east 91. Sucks! We actually recovered one (my father in laws).
I'm just glad it didn't cause a pileup.
I now relate the money spent over there every time we go to how many razors I could have picked up for that.
No need to worry there's another one fully restored up on Ebay right now he's only asking $1500 for it, well a fool and his money are soon parted.;)
