I really like this. Should I bid on it?

And if so how high would be worth it?

Valuations aren't allowed here on SRP...so it all depends on how much it would be worth to you. It is a nice looking specimen though :)
Yes, that certainly is in great shape, looks brand new, tang stamp is perfect!
It really looks perfect, almost new, you seldom see blades this old in that great condition, hence why it already has 25 bids.
Nice big blade as well, it's definitely a keeper and an excellent blade, now, as Catrentshaving said, the only question that remains is how much is it worth to you?
:D
Your only problem is that you just alerted the forum about this razor, now you may suffer the consequences of a bidding war.
Thats the last one I need for my collection. I'm bidding no matter how high it goes!!!!;)
That's ok, I'll bid a negative value and bring the price back down :)
Dexter,
A useful tool for Ebay bidding is the completed/sold listing option in the search tab. Doing a search for Wade and Butcher 13/16, you'll see that such razors were going for around $45 to $127 recently.
Wade and Butcher 13/16 | eBay
From looking at the auction you posted, I believe this razor will sell for more because: (1) the razor appears to be well photographed and (2) the razor looks pretty clean and polished.
So as others have said, the real question is how much this razor is worth to you. Let's assume that it would take a winning bid of $150 +/- $20 to win the auction. Is the razor worth that much to you. For that amount of money, you might be able to buy other nice razors such as various Dubl Ducks, Filarmonicas, C.V. Heljestrands, Thier Issards, Dovos, etc. Is this particular razor worth more to you than other razors you might be able to buy for a similar amount of money? That's the question you need to consider.
If you do a search on here for the seller I believe you will find that many have paid a steep market value for razors from him. He has a following due to the quality of his work and as a result of that his end product. I would also guess this one will go above average on past sales. Some will pay extra for a worry free product no matter what product you are taking about. Others prefer sweat equity, and some don't require all the glitz and glamour.
I haven't used a razor that small in so long, I'd probably just use it for cutting tomatoes. I'd go up to six bucks, but that's about it.
One other thing to be careful with ebay is "bidding frenzy"...I think some people get in the heat of the moment and end up paying a lot more than they should. It is easy to get in that trap. I have succumbed myself before but luckily was outbid at the last second. After it was over I thought to myself...why did I go that high????
I think there have been a few of us there. Perhaps even the other side of the frenzy. My current strategy is to only bid at the last second because everyone else is obviously sleeping. My max isn't close to what it used to be and I will wait if I have to, I already have more than two...
The Mod Team has gone through this thread and removed quite a few posts that went way off topic and the posts that quoted those posts...
Please keep the discussion about the razor in question..
Many Thanks

I had noticed this razor on ebay as well... in the pics, it says MANUFACTUREDBY ... no space between "manufactured" and "by". Does this suggest it may not be legit? Or is that common for wade & butcher?
Dexter,
I looks like the seller pulled the plug on the auction early. I wonder if it was another one of those situations were someone contacted the seller and agreed to a price outside of Ebay.
I have bought 2 razors from this vendor. Paid a bit more than I would now but they are 2 of my best shavers. Have been following his sales and every razor he sells commands top dollar. I would buy from him again so if somebody made an offer it was one he could not refuse. The razors are all top quality.
Look for the Lavender Handmade Box.....and there you'll find: Cedrick Smythe, who does not appear to be interested in any razor which would not compliment the box. I would buy a razor from him except for that pesky money part of the deal.
