I'm dancing a little jig!!
So, I've been chasing a white whale for the last year.
I have a very strong Scotch-Irish ancestry, though predominately Irish. I have been searching for an Irish made straight razor, though since there were so few cutlers in Ireland, this has been a long hunt. Indeed, it has long been my white whale.
Today, I finally won a T. Read & Co. 6/8 round point.

I apologize if any of you were bidding on this one as well, but I just had to have it!
Now, I just need to wait for it to make it's journey across the pond..."Willpower and Dedication are good words," Roland remarked, "There's a bad one, though, that means the same thing. That one is Obsession." -Roland Deschain of Gilead

Congrats on finding the razor. I know how it feels to finally get ahold of a razor that you have been hunting for for a long time. The first shave with it is always that much more better.

Nice razor from a great seller! Many Sheffield blades were made for various Irish retailers. You might keep looking!

I rest my case.

First, congratulatios on finding that special blade. I have failed to nail my motor city razor more than once. Ya gotta give if ya wanna get on these things. Also, since this forum is (literally) all about hair splitting, I need to mention this. Definition-wise:
white elephant (n) 1. A rare, expensive possession that is a financial burden...
The white whale allusion begins with an obsessive pursuit but ends up killing you. Tricky ground here between white whales and white elephants. I would lean to elephant for personal safety.
