I had a razor stolen from me when I sent it off for service once. It was serviced and never made it home to me. Phillhormonic Double Temple 8/8 spike, NOS. I just assure myself that whomever took it cut the hell out of themselves.
I wonder if it is a good idea to insure these kinds of items. I thought about this the other week, and then I thought I don't even know where to take them to have them appraised. Or even if they can be insured.
However she came into possession of the razor, the cops did not do their job. I would have never called and accepted her word but would have kept pressing her. Probably brought her to the station and put her in an interrogation room for awhile and let her "brew." Then explain that if she came into possession"by accident" there is no crime. Usually folks jump at the chance to extricate themselves from the quagmire.
And I would push this issue pretty hard. Not because I like str8 razors or BB razors, but because most times a cop does not get to reunite an owner with their property. The cops should have never called. Detectives should have knocked on the door.
We never played "good cop, bad cop." It was always "Bad cop, worse cop.":)
You all do it wrong.
My friend had his bike stolen. It showed up in the classifieds in the "parts" section. We called, made an appointment to come buy it. Got there, loaded the bike into the van. when they demanded the money, we told them. "This bike is stolen property, go ahead and call the cops" they were pissed, but they didn't say another word and the 4 of us drove away no problems. Same thing happened to another friend, but instead they said "I think that bike is my stolen property" before they got an address. Next thing you know, the phone calls went unanswered and the bike was never seen again.
Damn straight!
