The exact razor in question is sitting right in front of me and took an absolutely beautiful edge with little to no difficulty honing what so ever. I also made a few swipes with it and it shaves very nice.
In conversing with the seller all that hone wear did in this case was save me about $15 off the purchase price of the razor as it would have been listed for about that much more had it not been there. Also the pics were somewhat deceptive as the spine itself is not nearly as worn as the angle of some of the pics would lead you to believe. The second pic makes it look like it is horrible but it in fact, is not. I found this out by simply communicating with the seller and having additional pics sent to me via email. The first pic posted here is more indicative of the actual wear on the spine. One indication or hunch I had that it was not as bad as it seemed was if you look at the bevel it was fairly even. Slightly off but not bad. Granted I suppose it could have easily gone the other way but thats why I followed up with the seller. Also I chalk it up to a bit of luck as well.
Now that I know it takes a fine edge Ill clean it up a tad as there is some grime between the scales, polish them up and repaint the Genco Expert in red, and put it to good use.
