$725? Please define "Perfect Condition".
hmm looks pretty overbuffed.
Well - that looks pretty nice to me...even perfect.
The price tag that goes with it is an entirely different matter I guess....
I think the price has been over buffed.
What is the size on this bad boy?
Shouldn't it have a smile??????
Does the Walnut/Maple Burl veneer table come with it? Cuz then I'm in!
No diggity it was breadknifed.
here is how I see it, over priced
I'm sure it's not a proud 8/8ths in the middle. It's an attempt at getting more money, for a bigger blade.
Call me captain obvious. :)
To be fair, that seller has sold many fine blades, and often at nice prices. To be honest, I have always thought the super buffed blades are bad news waiting to be read. To be certain, judging from the prices things are selling for lately, its no surprise to see a price like that. Not that its worth it, just no surprise to see it!
A smile removed is just one type of uneven hone wear, and as uneven hone wear goes, it's not the worst type out there. As for the buffing, not every blade, especially with an etch, is close enough to perfect to be able to be buffed like that and keep the etch and look good. And don't even get me started on razors that aren't as described... This wording is not something I'd take issue with.
Perfect to me would be as it got put in the coffin the first time
NOS as finished by the cutler
It might be the lighting or the angle at which the picture was taken BUUUUUT, does the bevel look significantly larger at the heel than the toe ?
Personally I like the buffed to a mirror look, no way I would pay that for it though. I have said if before in another thread, I just don't understand why wade and butcher blades are selling for so much !
Heh, I misread the price and thought "$275, somebody will pay that". When I see these FBUs with the smile ground off, ruined really, I just feel sad.
The problem is that he will probably get that from some unsuspecting newb and then proceed to desecrate another razor just like it.
Might be an optical illusion, but it looks like it has a very slight frown.
Somebody spent a lot of time polishing a razor that may not even take a bevel.
Nice work on the scales though. I always try to make lemonade :)
