Are you referring to the shape of the material between the scales?
Although I knew they were wedge shaped, I thought 'wedge' was just the blanket term for the material pinned between the two scales at the toe (non pivot) end.

$799? Really? It would be interesting to know the "best offer accepted".
The wedge shape has a purpose. It adds a spring like action to the scales. This keeps the razor opening and closing with even pressure better than relying on the tightness of the pin alone. The scales may also widen when closing to better accept the edge between them. Depends on the razors tang and scale material. Most use a spacer when there is no bend or give to the scale material being used. In my opinion spacers just don't look right, but if the scale material demands it then your stuck. Some, I suppose, do it for the look and hey , if it's your razor do what makes you smile. For function ,,, not so much.
Well-said, Pups. Well-said! :tu
