The Dremal and E-Bay.

:aargh: It really gets on my nerves to see a nice razor ruined with a dremal, I wish these folks who think a razor with a bunch of patina won't sell would think twice about "cleaning it up". Sometimes you can see where they have taken a Dremal and taken off the writing off one side or the other just to take some rust off. I would rather buy a razor that has a bunch of patina on it than one that has been all shined up and put on a plastic stand and then they want $75.00 for a $20.00 razor. O.k. rant over.

That seems to be the way of the ebay world. I hate over buffed razors. Even restores that are well done with most of the tang stamps gone don't appeal to me. You can't control what other people do with their property. The only thing you can do is not buy them. Happy hunting.

I'll second that. I may buff the crap out of an open space and put a mirror finish on it, but I do everything in my power to preserve tang stamps and etchings on anything I restore. If I don't feel I can remove patina/rust and keep it intact, then rusty and patina'd it will stay in that area.
