shipping a coticule to Russia

Just sold a Coti on ebay to Russia. The restrictions say:

The following items are prohibited when sent to or from the address of private individuals for needs that are not related to company activities:

Scrap and waste from ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Nonmanufactured precious metals, precious metal scrap and waste, ores and concentrated precious metal products, and primary products containing precious metals.
Mineral substances (nonmanufactured natural stones).
Information about the Earth’s interior.
Technical devices designed for eavesdropping. etc.

The third line looks like it would describe a Coti. Can any one confirm this?

I think they are talking about precious and semi precious gem stones.

Things like Diamonds, Rubies, Lapis and similar.

I don't think it applies to common stuff like coticules.

I shipped a coti to Russia few months ago. Only problem I had was post office lady asked what a coticule was, told her an old rock

I see your point but aren't coticlules made of Garnets?:shrug:

Mark package as garden rock. They look a little like pavers. :)

I would just list it vaguely but honestly as a sharpening hone.

Unless they are gem quality they aren't even close to semi precious stones.

Like Utopian said, just label it sharpening stone. I bought stones from Russian sellers twice and they both used this term as well. Keep things simple otherwise too much detail confuses people and just creates more problems. Eg the question - what's a coticule :)

Information about the Earths interior?????? That is something strange to outlaw. I wonder where this prohibition stemmed from.

I'm not hear here in Russia about problems with import / export of grinding/sharpening stones. And yes, it's better to have a simple label - a grinding or sharpening stone. This is more understandable for both Russian post and customs.
