$560 for the Wonderedge. The descritpion is interesting....
I watched it, but quickly lost interest. IMHO once you get into the price of a custom, it's just not worth it.
wow nice description but i would need to see the actual blade first... this one could have been left on the family boat for the last 50 years and be completely rusted away.. then without the paypal you have very little recourse
Waddle, waddle! Too rich for me.
I was watching it and was amazed at how much it went for. I wonder it was because the guy claimed to be in the family and it was one of the last "new" ones available.
 !
Purdy... but way too rich for me.
$560 Holy Jumpin' Jeebas!!!!!!! Don't tell me I'm gonna get priced out of this hobby too?!
the description is a bit presumptuous.... One of only 2 new unused razors in existence? Photos are of the sister razor not being auctioned....
Does not set a good tone to me, but the implications of the razor being what they claim it is is amazing. If it is one of only 2 unused, new razors and it remains that way, the price could go up dramatically, especially bearing in mind what we have all witnessed lesses condition ones sell for.
There is, simply put, no possible way to verify it is one of the last 2 unused blades. Some barber in Walla Walla could have a crate of them in his attic for all we know. It's that type of unfounded claim that more than likely got more bids and higher prices.
I would dearly love a wonderedge but not at these prices. I agree with those above, for that kind of money I'd buy a custom.
I'm thinking I need to dig up my ducks and post to ebay. That's an incredible price for a DD... I don't really care for them myself.
I wonder if the new owner will open the box.
I know a guy who has 7 of them, 7/8th blade, still in original wrapper. No kidding. Not my place to say who, but believe me there are more than this guy says there are. I also agree, for that much money you can get a great custom or a couple really nice W&Bs from Traveller.
I wrote him a question basically telling him he was all wet with his claim and to prove it. he never answered me. Who ever got it got hosed plain and simple. believe me there are plenty of those out there yet. Also his chronology of the company wasn't right. pearlson took over the company when the name changed to pearduck which was around WWll and maybe pearlson sold the company around 1957 but the company continued and still exists (in name only) today. Through the 1960s they continued selling straights (among many other things).
NOS Wonderedges simply are not rare enough to command that kind of premium. Heck even NOS still-sealed-in-package W&B's don't command that kind of premium, and W&B stopped making razors over a hundred years ago.
You guys happen to check the winning bidder? He's spent about $2000 on razors in the past couple months....RAD anonymous anyone?
