Such a bargain, someone is gonna be very happy soon...
with his new butter knife.
If it were not for the very real possibility of this thing turning off someone interested in getting into the straight razor hobby then this would be really funny....
Yeah, this will just further convince someone that straight shaving is dangerous because he'll be hacking his face for a month with a "razor" he thinks is shave ready.
Also, what's with a Zeepk being called a "Zee Pk"? Trying to re-brand a still crappy razor or simply not knowing any better?
Mark
Whenever I search for razors, strops, hones, etc. I type in something like "straight razor -zeepk". The search results displayed are everything containing the words "straight razor" and no results that contain the word "zeepk". So all Zeepk straight razors are thrown out of the search results.
This could be a way of getting to people who do that, though I don't see the benefit. I'll never buy one.
Actually this is how I found it... I also exclude words like "zeepk"… etc. but "Zee PK" is a new re-branding of the same razor, and ebay’s search feature don’t have the enough intelligence to know better (or was designed that way to increase results). So now I have to update my already long search keys….. -knife -krieger –kriegar –disposable –kamisori –masterusa… just to name a few.
Kees, you're assuming that the "steel" is hard enough to cut or spread warm butter :D
Now that I can hone a blade and shave with a straight I kinda want to see where I can get a Zeepk and how many whiskers it stands up to.
Without correcting you :fim:, let me at least give you a tip:
Search like this and include the parentheses:
razor straight blah blah blah -(zeepk, "zee pk")
The comma serves as an "or" function in the bounds of the parentheses and the quotes serve as an unbreakable search string.
Thanks for the interesting and informative search tips there guys!!
James.
I have a zeepk that I would donate to that cause. It would help me get rid of the embarrassment of having that piece of alloy :o (and let me forget the times before SRP). I think it would be interesting to do an analysis of before and after honing and to see if any edge is established (just for "fun"). Send me a PM if you're interested in the "razor".
I don't think it will stand up to many whiskers. I'm just learning how to shave with a straight razor, and LUCKY ME >>>>> My ebay purchase of my first straight razor is the ZEE. It's not at all what I had hoped it was, and not very sharp.
I thought that it was German steel because the pic on e-bay had Solingen on the blade, but it's from Pakistan. The description didn't say where it was made. I guess that should have been my first clue.
If I remember correctly, you can't get one to hold a shaving edge. Once the get to knife sharp the edge starts to crumble. It's a crying shame that folks knowingly & deliberately sell junk like that. Some noob, we've all been there, could easily buy one of these junk razors and be turned off to the best shaves of their life. Heck, I bought one of those junk Kriegar razors...it' doesn't even make a good box opener!!
