A few of my razors on Ebay
-
Nice stuff. From your 100% feedback rating and your complete descriptions I would have total confidence in bidding on your auctions. OTOH, I don't understand why in your photos you don't show the whole razor?
I see sellers do this and it always makes me wonder if they are hiding something. Showing one side and not the other for example. Not long ago a seller had a Wonderedge up on ebay. He had one photo showing the back side so you didn't know if the metal inlay on the front side was intact.
I emailed and asked and he never responded. The razor didn't bring near what it would have with good photos of both sides. Anyway, good luck with your auctions.

I like the bullseye washers on the walnut scales. Did you buy them from the guy in Germany who makes them? They don't look like stacked washers, that's why I ask.
I'm watching that razor. I've been very interested to see what the Ebay world thinks of rescaled razors with handcrafted scales. Maybe it's the higher frequency of strict collectors/non-shavers on Ebay that are looking for original that has seemed to have less demand for handcrafted work? I hope I'm wrong and you get a high price for that razor.

Personally I am only able to upload four photos. The close-ups were to show the defects or attributes in the razor. I figure this is better than the long-range out-of-focus cellphone camera shots that have become popular. The pictures were taken in a lightbox with a fujitsu s9000 and scaled down for Ebay.
I rarely sell on Ebay, but if you ever need an extra picture, please feel free to ask and I will be more than happy to oblige.
Kind regards,
Tony.

Those are stacked washers. The rescaling was done by Denmason from this board (hi Dennis!).

They look good but the white balance is a bit off. What type of lighting were you using? Normal incandescent lights turn things kind of dull yellow in photographs. With better lighting I think you'd get a better picture and hence a better sales price.

Check out Auctiva. You can post up to 24 pictures in one listing and the service is absolutely free. That's what I use. It's easy and gives you way more features than listing directly through Ebay.

AaronX: that's my problem...I blew a bulb on one of my lights and had to use an overhead incandescent light to compensate.
Chrisl: I'll look into that service for more photos.
Thank you everyone for the tips.
Tony.

I live Europe and usually search from the Ebay's UK site. If you only indicate service to the US, I won't see it, even though I select "worldwide". This isn't a question only to you, but to everyone on SRP that sells on Ebay who specifies CONUS only: Why? Is it really that much trouble to ship to Europe?

I used to limit my sales to the CONUS but a friend convinced me that I would have better results if I went worldwide. This paid off on a bicycle that I had listed at a high price. I had over 80 people watching and got one bid seconds before it ended. That bid was from the UK.
I am not a steady ebay seller. I just sell stuff that is extra or that I have lost interest in. I finally broke down and bought a couple of scales to figure shipping charges accurately and that made selling overseas easier. Selling out of the USA requires a bit more work in that I have to go to the PO and do the customs forms but it has been worth the extra time.

I'm definately bidding on the Wade and Butcher 6/8 with MOP and Abalone :nj
So if any of you try something funny...:gth
Just kidding ... or not ? :roflmao

Good looking razors. I'll be watching them. :)
As a side note, I'm a photographer (side gig stuff mostly, but looking into doing weddings and such). It drives me BATTY when I see photos of the razors and there's a huge glaring light reflection. Is it really so difficult to take photos of the razors without the light reflection?
If anyone EVER has any questions how to improve their photos for their razors please feel free to PM me or start a thread and ask questions. I can go about how to answer these questions from the perspective of trying to keep it cheap as well and not buy a lot of specialized photo equipment (using household equipment, although I do recommend at some point you buy at least a cheap tripod. you can usually find for $10-$20 at stores like frys or similar).

I'd pop a UV filter on the end of your lens. Doesn't matter if you use it indoors, It still really helps.

Would you guys be opposed to starting a new thread on razor photography? Personally I would love to start with a stock photo and apply these suggestions with your feedback.
