No 7 is old, and imo much more interesting than the duck (but then again, I don't care about ducks)
The shape of the blade and the simple shape of the scales place it in the early 1800s.
If I had to take a wild guess, I'd say it was made before 1830. Possibly even 1800.
Of course, this estimate is based on just one pic and no other information so I could well be wrong.
But all in all that looks like the most interesting razor of the bunch.

No.7 appears to me to be between 1810-1820 shape and style

Thanked: 131Garry seemed to think that the DD had seen some hone wear and was questioning whether it might actually be a 6/8?
This means very little to me, but what do you guys think?

Honewear on the duck is really minimal.
In the first pic is seems worse than it is, but I think you just caught the lighting on the inside of the hollow.
Because on the third pic the lighting is better, and the honewear is nearly invisible.
And on those types of razor it is really easy to see if it was wider originally.
You can see how the shoulder curves into the edge (i.e. the toe is round) and if that razor would have been 6/8 originally, that rounding would end abruptly.
Instead, it makes a near perfect quarter circle which ends at the edge itself, so there is no way imo that this could have been a wide, ground down razor.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 131Aw man.....
The last razor in post 17- the wedge with the spike which looked rather interesting.... when I cleaned it up I found that not only does it have a chip, there is a crack leading from the chip as well. Its about 1cm long!
That one had such promise.....

Thanked: 131So the second ebay lot arrived today. I had other issues with this parcel which you can read about here but I wont go into them on this thread. Instead you can see the pics and my review.
Apologies about the pic sizes. I have tried to resize them but photobucket is being stupid. If any mods or admin want to resize feel free....
Good lord thats a HUGE parcel! How many razors did I order?....
Oh. Well I guess they'll be pretty safe and undamaged ^^
Not their original boxes but nice all the same. Whats first?
Sweet. The razor is in EXCELLENT condition with only one minor problem. I'll explain that at the end of the reviews. The seller obviously honed it up well cos it passed a TPT.
Some of the gold wash is still there and the ducks are still clear.Last edited by sidneykidney; 08-08-2008 at 08:46 PM.
