Got Lucky - Mint Yellow Green Escher !!
I don't know whether it was the title of the listing or the economy but I picked up this yellow green Escher in pristine mint unused condition for a lot less then I thought it would go for. From the look of the labels and the edges the stone has never seen water or been touched by a razor. I am torn between leaving it as is or getting out the lapping plate.

Ahhh! The link is broken!
If it's unused, I'd be in the same dilemma as you...Do you display any of of your gear? If you did, this would be great to add to the collection...if not, then might as well use it

On second thought, are you considering selling it in the future? Is that why you're considering keeping it NOS? It would surely retain it's value (or increase in value) as a collector's item NOS.

It is item # 120332478220. I don't understand why the link isn't working. I copy and paste it and then do the "preview post" before I hit the send button. The link works then but seems to foul up later.
I bought it to use and have NO intention of selling, trading or whatever.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks for the item number, Jimmy. That hone looks SWEET, and looks like a great piece of nostalgia - I'd put it in a shadow box and display it proudly in a man cave somewhere in the house.
...and no kidding about not selling/trading/whatever. That hone is just too pretty!

Thanks Mark, I have another y/g Escher that I do use. I bought this to use and I probably will eventually. It is just that it is pristine so that makes me reluctant. I don't buy stuff to be a custodian of antiquities though so before long I will probably kick the tires and drive it around the block.

Nice score, Jimmy. I should PM Blaireau and ask him to sell the the YG that he has (I assume it's still there) in the classifieds for around that price. Do you think he'd go for it?

On topic: Jimmy, that is an amazing find. One of the few things I'd buy and not use at all, ever. It's just too nice the way it is, and you can probably get just as good of honing results with your other stones.
Off topic: If you have your browser set so that the URL your mouse is currently hovering over shows in the bottom bar of your window, you'll notice that URL's in SRP posts are changed from what they originally are. This is done so that SRP gets credit as being the "refering site" to where ever the link takes you. Unfortunately, sometimes the software munges the URL, which results in ebay getting confused about where you're going. The way around this:
Go to the ebay page you want to get the URL from.
Highlight and copy the entire address from your address bar.
go to TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a Tiny URL
paste the ebay url into the top slot at tinyurl.com
hit the "Make tiny url" button.
Allow access to your clipboard if a dialog box asks you
come back to your post here, and paste in the url made from tinyurl.com
it'll work everytime.

I have one in a similar box that reads Escher & Co where yours reads Pike & Eschen. Mine wasn't mint but not used very much but a lot cheaper as well
