    Default Bidding Frenzy!

I know that the seller has a good reputation, & that Wade & Butchers fetch fine prices, but this seems a little steep!
EARLY WADE & BUTCHER STRAIGHT RAZOR SUPERB SHAVE READY on eBay, also Straight Razors, Razors Razor Blades, Shaving Hair Removal, Health Beauty (end time 24-Jan-09 01:00:00 GMT)
Still time to get a bid in though!

I have dealt with that seller. A stand up guy. However, he must be licking his chops over the bidding!!

Not like it matters what I think in the least, but my only beef is that I wish he'd mention that the razors are de-pinned and re-pinned. Well, anyone who looks at his razors for collectible value in addition to shaving value would probably already know (my understanding anyway) that the razors are not 100% original.

From a collectors point of view the de-pinning is obviously detrimental, but collecting just to gaze at the things can be argued to be a waste of a good razor. At least you know he's been thorough with the restore. It is kind of a shame to take them apart if it's unnecessary though, & i don't. That's mostly because i like the easy route though!

I saw that the other night- man that's escalated out of control. Makes me feel a lot better about what I've spent on my RAD lately.

Well, he's a seller with a great rep. I'm sure he's put in a lot of work to build that reputation, and now he is reaping the benifits.

To be clear, I'm not ripping the guy. It's simply a matter of differing opinion on what full disclosure means. I don't believe that he's purposely intending on being deceptive. I'm simply saying that my personal opinion is that any razor that's been restored and sold should also state specifically that the razor has been de-pinned and re-pinned if it has.

Is it a big deal from a shaving perspective if a razor has been expertly re-pinned (which his clearly are from the pictures)? Not at all.

If I were to bid on a MINT or "MINTY" razor and was ready to fall into a bidding war where for whatever insane reason I was going to pay up to $500+ for a vintage razor, whether that MINT or "MINTY" razor had been re-pinned would be valuable information to me in my bid. It just would.

He sells well finished renovated razors and he's very good. I agree with Chris though, if he is getting those prices, full disclosure won't hurt him. In truth, most of the guys buying from him will know of his reputation by checking his history and probably don't know what re pinning means anyway. To them it would mean that it had been thoroughly cleaned.
