I have a hard time convincing skeptics but most people selling razors on Ebay have no clue that you are even considering actually being crazy enough to shave with what they are selling. The whole idea is so silly that they sell them from a completely different perspective.

Sort of like buying an antique knife and asking if you can cut bread with it.
Spot on sir. Even asking for clear and detailed pictures of a blade (yes, blade, not handles, blade please, I said BLADE, not box with handles, BLADEBLADEBLADEBLADE, STOP SHOWING ME A GENERAL PICTURE OF ALL THE RAZORS TOGETHER) and the exact condition of the edge (in perfect order apart from some rust, sir...really ? even when on your blurry overview picture i can spot a piece missing right under that barbers notch, even though it's too dark, blurred and quite small ?) is too difficult for ignorant people. The best way to get the point across would be to go by their house, point at the blade and go: that's the blade, this is a crack, those are three chips missing, and that's actually NOT the original box, as you can see from the stamp on the tang.

    Frustrations...

I think most of you guys didn't get Mike's question...

Was it worn off due to a LOT of use?

    OR

Was the razor hardly/moderately used and it wore off because it was a light stamp and/or due to the cleanup?

Very legitimate question if you ask me.
You hit the nail right on the head.

Yes, I'm fairly new to straight razors.

You can find me in chat if you wanna talk to me about it... I can send you "before" pics of this razor.. it wasnt too bad when I got it, I just cleaned up a bit of surface stains and whatnot.

I sanded it a bit with 400 and 600, and then polished. I didn't remove any more of the stamp than was already gone when I got it.

Thanks for criticism in this thread though, because yes, I am working to better my pictures. And yes, I need to start saying "I RESTORED THIS" in my auctions.

    Thanks,

    Brad (undream22)
Brad I appreciate the response, I should have just emailed you and asked you, that was a mistake on my part.

Mike, I don't mind at all.

I've still got lots to learn, and threads like these help a lot for those of us dabbling in the straight razor buying/selling .. Although it was a bit of a surprise to find my auction on a thread like this hehe.

I'm not claiming to know everything about straights quite yet... but I do hope that I'm providing better descriptions in my auctions than most sellers do.

Hopefully over time I will improve to the standards that you collectors demand

    Thanks!

    -Brad

PS -- thanks for the publicity.. something tells me you've driven up the bid..... lol
