I just couldn't stop looking at the brown underneath.
The age is good (old as hell)
Based on all the dried slurry I would say it is soft-ish.
Plus it is really dished, which should be wrong for Arkansas which is hard.(er)

Hope it turns out to be a coticule that can be salvaged! If so, great price for a huge coticule!
I almost bid on it too, but after studying the poor photos for a spell, decided the odds were against it being a coticule. But, like a 50 to 1 odds horse winning a race, it happens. So good luck and please post pics after you get it cleaned up!
Could be. It has a hint of correct colouring & the extent of dishing suggests it may be a natural. For that money it's worth taking the chance. When you're lapping it you should save the slurry. It'll keep you & your descendants going for generations!
What an interesting stone. If it could talk I bet it would have some tales to tell. Whoever NB was he got his money's worth. :)
