Geez, it's been a while since I have been here, but it's good to see these prices IMO. I missed a gorgeous 13/16 Wonderedge on eBay years ago that went for a big number. Damn, I can't remember how much, but I wish I had that razor. My 5/8 is a super shaver and a sheer delight to hone and strop. I wouldn't sell it for 700.00.
IME different brands and styles of razors go hot and cold. Or maybe I should say hot and hotter. I've seen the same phenomenon with collectible tobacco pipes. Take a couple of new RAD sufferers and a forum like ours where some razors are talked up and you can get a razor bubble. That fellow who was the 'lucky' winner will have to live a long life to get his money out of those two jewels he just picked up. :)
Jimmy,
makes sense.
We had the tech bubble, housing bubble, financial bubble...
Bernanke in his last speech before congress warned us about the razor bubble... and Dovo together with TI decided to lower production...:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
It isn't the seller's fault that two guys got in a bidding war and the razor went for an inflated price anyhow. The fellow bought the razor with whatever plans he had in mind for it and decided to sell it later. Wherever he bought it or from who isn't an issue nor is how much he paid. I know of a women who bought a Dunhill magnum (tobacco pipe) at a church bazaar for $1.00 and put it on ebay with an opening bid of $50.00. It sold to a friend of mine for something like $4,000.
How would you like to be the guy that lost?
