For those of you lusting after a Dalmore Yellow, I mentioned specifically in the auction that I don't feel the Dalmore Yellow is suitable for razors. It's a fine grit sandstone and it's soft. Water soaks into the Dalmore Yellow like a sponge because of its porosity. Since relatively speaking, the Dalmore Yellow particles are what I'd consider to be loosely bound, it's a gritty stone. It'd be fine if it was releasing slurry, but instead it easily releases sandy grit. It doesn't feel good using it to hone razors.
OTOH, if one is looking to own all the Scottish hones, the by all means the Dalmore Yellow is one in the group and has value for that reason.
