Is this new production Puma razor or NOS? Is it any good?

Hi. I have discovered that the german ebay site ebay.de has been floated with these Puma razors and for quite reasonable prices (for a new Puma at least). I am wondering if these are new production Pumas or NOS and if anyone owns one of these razors. One can you tell me about these razors? How are they comparing to the old Pumas? I am thinking on buying one myself so any advice and info will be highly appreciated. Here are the ebay item numbers and links referring to these new pumas that I am talking about:

I've never seen a Puma with that nomenclature and etching. I don't know what to say about those.

same situation with 4/8 helje on that german ebay. Tons of it and for 30 euros NOS. You think maybe some crazy Schultz got inspired by the pakistani razor makers and decide to do the same :idea:, or these are actually really nice "real" razors that people just didn't discovered... yet? If this is the case, which I honestly doubt.

They may be NOS blade blanks that have been finished recently. I don't think Puma ever used that marking on their blades even at the end of their production after the company was sold. Perhaps someone has bought the rights to the trademark or it may have gone into the public domain. :shrug: I know that thebigspendur is well versed on the Pumas. Perhaps when he sees this thread he will be able to clear it up.

I have noticed the NOS french point Heljestrands for 30-40 euros... very nice on the eyes.

But these Pumas must be new production models, they certainly are priced like legit Pumas.

Personally, they look plain and boring. Unlike those sweeds that turn me on instantly.

Well the question is now if anyone here owns one of these new production Pumas and what are the impressions on those?

Just noticed those new Pumas on the puma web site. Still no feedback from anyone? I thought this would be rather big news.

If you search eBay for the term "rasiermesser" (German for straight razor), you will find tons of these new "Puma" razors for sale. I don't see how they could be NOS. I think they may be just the Puma logo stamped on a Gold Dollar blade.

For what I have read in a couple of Spanish Forums, this is the situation right now about Puma:

They have three different lines of products:

- Puma: Still manufactured in Solingen, see below a video of the factory. And seems for the pic on the web that straight razors are marked like this (just "Puma")

- Puma IP (International Production), made outside Germany...mainly in Albacete (Spain), see some pics here:

Puma is one of those manufacturers who have been sliced and diced and resold. I'm not sure who owns them now however most of their production knives are of far east origin. The top of the line stuff is still made in Germany. As far as the razors go remember that towards the end Dovo made all their razors so I'd be shocked if they discovered old blanks at the Puma factory which is probably physically different than it used to be.

If the new razors are made in Germany they are probably quality stuff but considering the legendary status of their classic razors if the new ones are of equal quality I'll eat my strop.
