Rare, but I think I've seen three on eBay in the last year. One of them was in rough condition though.
Superior shavers. I'm glad I have one but I wouldn't by a second at that price.
The Different Scent have an NOS one at about EUR 400. The current bid on eBay for this used TI is 331 EUR. My, my...
One also sold on eBay in January for less than $200. I think not too many people know what they are. Max pointed it out here in one of his posts.
I have to admit, I think they're a neat historical piece...
...but I find the conflicting angles and arcs of the blade to be ugly as sin. No accounting for taste, I suppose...
I can imagine that. Two-dimensional perspective can really mess things like French Cruves and such up... And being made by Pierre Thiers is really neat, so it would be a great collection item... I rather fancy the scales, too.... Robin, do you think they're pinned on straight? :p
The razor I saw was flawless. Still a rather hefty price tag.
To my eye it is a beautiful razor. Mine is flawless and is 5/8 from the honing flat to the edge and 11/16 to the top of the spine. There are slight variations in the shape of the blade in the ones I have seen. On mine the point extends slightly farther at the bottom than the top. I like that very much. It is a pleasure to shave with as well. Maybe something to do with the ambiance since I know the history. Old Pierre at the forge with a hammer and anvil. Still has forging/hammer marks on the spine. :)
