So just a question for the group -- here's a newly listed razor that already has 14 or more bids. It looks like it's in pretty great shape, but the seller has it listed as a Thiers "Gerlot" (which I take to mean Le Grelot). Only take a look at the photo below -- don't all of the Thiers Le Grelots actually say "Le Grelot" on the shank somewhere?

TI bought Le Grelot and IME a TI/LG would have the old LG tang stamp. There was a Le Grelot with the same blade profile and maybe that is where he is getting that from. Other than that he may just figure more people will notice the auction with both names in the title ?
The 1/4 hollow and the 3/4 both say LeGelot , Theirs France.
They also have very characteristic logo, a bell unlike the TI which is a crown.
LeGrelot is basically a brand that has been acquired by TI if I am not wrong.
See, that's what I figured too. I have the TI 3/4 hollow Le Grelot, and it definitely has the Le Grelot logo on the shank. Anyway, it looks like he's selling a nice razor too, so I'm not sure that calling it a Le Grelot (or Gerlot) is going to make much difference here. Thanks! --Jeff
Looks like the standard TI production. The stamp says TI, so it most certainly isn't Le Grelot.
I think the seller's just confused.
Jimmy, you are correct...it is a reference to the blade profile. I was told the "Art of Shaving" TI models were the same as the Grelot, not sure if that meant the actual blanks or just the blade style. The spelling was pure oversight and late night listing. No attempt to hoodwink prospective bidders as a new blonde horn TI from AOS is around the same price as the "Le Grelot" from Classic Shaving (Actually, the one I am selling is $20 more)Quote:
