Got one just like it and yes it is an Engstrom and takes a great edge. The scales are original. I didn't think they were until I saw a few more like it come up. There is another variation of the same razor with black scales and a devil image impressed into them. They are not a heavy grind. More a full hollow and plan on a rolling x to hone it.
ok that's helpful thanks! I have a more modern mint condition (besides my use) engstrom with an extreme swayback sway, and it is fun to hone, and you sure do need to do a rolling x stroke.
Thats a pretty razor, I really like those scales!
Hope you enjoy it! :)
Got one some time ago and have yet to hone it. It was pretty much new, no hone ware at all. I gave it a buff to polish it up and put it in some red narra scales.
I got my rantankarus today. Very nice shape - should look real pretty when I clean the dirt off.
Any ideas how old this razor is? I'm guessing pretty old (no engstrom marking on it and the design on the scales isn't very new school).
Here is my Ran-Tan-Ka-Rus Red Devil, same maker and blade profile. A very nice shaver!
Here is mine with a Case Bros above it. Nice shavers.
