I understand the craving to get your hands on a Wade and Butcher, but when the seller tells you the blade is cracked, why wouldn't you just move along to the next one? Someone is going to be p***ed for not reading the description or really looking at the photos.

ive bought a few razors from this seller. but that blade is rough.
I've got a W&B that is virtually identical to that, but with worse scales, and it has a crack similar to that but is a little closer to the heel. It shaves great! The crack is sufficiently stable in that big old blade that it has no impact on the edge at all.
I was looking at this razor, I did just as you described, read the description, sighed in disappointment at the crack and moved on.
I guess that sums up why the seller put it up for sale - some folks don't mind buying a cracked razor blade. Perhaps those bidders knew what they were buying all along. :thinking:Quote:

I've bought a couple of razors over the years that have had a crack in them too, but both times it wasn't obvious, so I licked my wounds, clipped the scales and trashed the blade. You are definitely braver than I am. No matter how stout the blade is it ended up cracked somehow and I don't want to see if I can get away with using it.
With this razor, I imagine the seller will also get some heat from the buyer once the razor is received. Wondering what the consensus is: should a seller put a known defective razor up, even if they identify the fault? Personally, I have no problem with what the seller did here, but I'm shocked he found so many bidders.
I think the seller should have no further responsibility, the flaw was clearly described and pictured. Keep in mind, not everyone buys these things to shave with.
I would have, and have in the past, bought this razor or one just like it, just for the scales. I love old horn.
Perhaps the buyer intends for it to simply be on display and not shaved with. It certainly has historic value.
With that much text to read through some in red and everything in capitals the most important sentence 'BLADE LOOKS LIKE IT HAS A CRACK AS SEEN IN PICTURES.' is easily overlooked. It should have been in the title, the very first thing in the description or at least in red.
Although legally it's alright, he is trying to take advantage of lazy ebayers.
