The pic is blurry and the stone looks dirty so it is hard for me to tell, but there does look to be a place in the box for a rubbing/slurry stone. You may have gotten lucky and gotten a thuringian. I cant tell for sure though.
Is there anything on the label that can be read?
It's hard it see clearly. Maybe some better pics of the stone and the box would help. The box lablel looks pretty chewed though. You "may" have a winner.
Mike:)
This is all I have for now. This is the Ebay # : 120675055524.
Thank you
Livio
You outbid me on that by a dollar. I bid on it just on a whim that it looked like an Escher box with a slurry stone slot (Slurry stone not included). Also if you look at the red patch towards the center of the box it looks like the circular Droescher label.
Hopefully you got a steal since it came with five other stones too.
I am sorry I outbid you, I just want a Escher very bad. I hope it is one.
Livio
Hahaha that's cool, that's how the game works.
Post pics when it arrives!
Cheers
i hope you got escher but i have never seen any escher slurry separate from original stone by paper wall.
gl
Blame Nick for such a high price.
I have seen some of the old Droescher boxes have the seperation wall, Sham.
Or maybe that was the Hollernzhon variant?
AH HA!!! Wood and not paper!
I wasn't aware that the ones I saw were wood separations, Sham.
Thanks again for mentioning these things.
I hope is a Escher, if not , there is a Franz Swaty stone, I ask the seller before I bid, so it will be manageable somehow. It will be a long week until
they will come. How I know if is a Escher or not?
Thank you anyway
Livio
Post a tone of pictures in this thread when you get the stone. I will let you know what you have or someone else will that knows the Escher brand well, either Sham or another member most likely.
The slurry slot moves this hone way up the scale in my mind.
Way up.
I missed that detail of a slurry stone when it went past on eBay. I thought
it was something like a Carborundum 101 hone. There may be some
hint left on the box.
Let us know when you get them in hand.
I swear I also see the circular droescher logo on the red part of the box too. Anyone have a picture of the logo? I will look at my droescher coticule to see when I get home.
Thank you gents, we have to wait couple more days to find out. I am pretty sure the box hide some of the answers, what other stones come with slurry stone on about that times? Also the lats picture show a stone
almost the same like the one on the box, same color and same dimensions.
Well see
Livio
Looks like an escher to me.
The Droescher I have is not the same label as you have. Also no divider.
It may very well be the Hohenzollern form of Escher that I see on Ebay from time to time...
Can't wait for the results since I was the one that made it cost 50.00 LOL
Hello gents, I received the stones today, and...... Is not an Escher, is a man made stone with two grits, a coarse-medium and a fine one. So I will try to return them, the box it have a round red label, I will post some picture later. The group contain a Franz Swaty, and a big stone , is a red brownish, very fine.
So I get a coticule at a very good deal, but not a Escher.
Thank you all
Livio
I just receive a response, the seller agree to full a refund. Here are the pictures of the "escher" and the other stone. Thank you very much for your imputs, and your hope.I think my HAD was cured, for now at least.
Livio
That would do it :) I think you're lucky that the seller is willing to take them back for a refund. There was no promise whatsoever for an Escher, so they were described well to the best of seller's ability.
I generally think this is part of the gamble on ebay - if you're willing to put $50 for the chance of may be getting a $300 stone, you are also risking to loose that $50 if the stone turns out to be worth nothing.
I am lucky, yes. But I asked the seller before I bid , just about that stone if is natural or manmade. It look pretty manmade for everybody, you don't have to be expert. Instead he told me about other stones, so I fell I did not take advantage of him.If the stone in the box was natural, I just keep them anyway, but after all I think the box is not important even with a slurry stone spot.
Livio
it's quite possible the box doesn't belong to that stone. i mean some sizes are relatively standard.
Thanks for the update, that sucks, man.
This is why we call it had because throwing out 50$ for a stone you don't know is a gamble only HAD can bring.
Coticule is a sweet deal for 50$ though considering their prices are nuts now.
