I believe similar stone was posted here on SRP recently, but for those that are not familiar Droescher sold Coticules and Eschers, but the two were mined from different countries so not the same.
The guy seems completely ignorant when it comes to what he has. Makes me wonder what he paid for that stone.

When I say ignorant I mean not knowledgeable. I'm not saying he's stupid. Just don't want anyone getting offended or upset.
If it werent for the fact that the guy is trying to fleece someone the description is rather humorous.
This is what got me: 'Vintage S.R. Droescher or "Escher"'.....lost all credibility as far as I'm concerned. Maybe if he threw in a few more 'Escher'-s here and there it would be worth more? Too bad he doesn't have the matching 'Escher' straight razor to complete the set!
It seems like everyone with a wish and a stone is marking them as "possible eschers" on ebay. Kind of obnoxious but what can you do.
So I ask the seller a question about the item.
Me: So is this stone an Escher or a coticle?
Seller: Escher is a brand name not an actual type of stone. They sold coticules and Thuringians. The"Extra Extra" grade was the highest coticule grade used back in the old days. They are sold by "Veins" now. This is the best finishing coticule I have ever had. I really hate to sell it, but I have to have the money. If you have any more questions let me know. Thanks

BTW: The ad states that the stone has been lapped and yet the ink stamp remains very much intact...hmmmm, curiouser and curiouser!
I remember this stone, it was recently sold on eBay. I made few bids but did not win. I remember that auction. It's a very good coticule in almost new condition. And the seller knew very well what he is selling.
Now that is interesting. Ebay has history so it looks like the seller is banking on the nicer pictures being worth about $200-$300. Or may be once he tested the hone he realized that's what it's really worth.Quote:

My impression is that the seller is aware that a coticule is one thing and an escher is another. I think that by putting both names in the title he is hoping to attract more attention through keyword searching potential buyers. Lots of guys do that with various items. List an item and include the name of a popular variant in their title.
I say someone should buy it and then send it to me for testing. I will tell you how fine of a grade the stone is lol.
