I am a fan and collector of Wade and Butchers but I am not seeing as many razors up for auction. Is the a lull in the market these days. Obviously I dont want to get into a discussion or the economy and disposable income.
Just curious from the forum's point of view.
IME it ebbs and flows. Watch when the snow comes. In the winter when folks are spending less time out of doors there is more action on ebay overall. At least that is my take on it over the years.

Near the holiday season people need more money as well and that is when they start selling off grandpa's priceless collection of rust.
I think the rumors about moving into tangibles are largely just that: rumors. And usually pundits are referring to real tangibles like precious metals, not carbon steel. I don't think there's a sudden run on W&B razors--more likely it's just the typical ebb & flow of merchandise on eBay.Quote:

As for the original question, I think if you're looking for something specific it may seem like there's a lull every now and then. It just takes some patience to wait for what you want, which definitely takes a while sometimes. Good luck in your search.
I think it's the calm before the storm at the moment. I remember getting my first straight just after Christmas last year and everything was insane. I think many people get them for Xmas for one reason or another then begin collecting which has everyone searching, selling, and bidding.
It has calmed down a lot recently from what i've noticed on eBay. not much super outrageous bidding (I may be wrong, I've laid off eBay a lot lately as well)
I just looked on ebay and as of now 100 wade and butcher are up for sale, sounds like quite a bit to me!!!!!!!
It's like a flash back to the early '60's. I lived in Argentina for a brief time, beautiful country, but they were experiencing Hyper Inflation at the time. We can only hope that what's happening in the EBay market doesn't extend to the entire Economy. If it does, these will be the good old days!Quote:

Additionally, it still is a buyers market. As a seller, I see that the more expensive (over $125) razors are not selling as well as they did

It makes sense. If the economy is down, budgets are tight.
If budgets are tight, luxury items are the first things that get cut.
That is also why investing in collectible items for the purpose of making / saving money is only beneficial as long as the economy stays healthy.

I think that the market has become a little more price sensitive in recent months. Having said that, there still seems to be what I think is silly money available to buy large W&B blades.
