Wow, interesting piece. Has anyone here shaved with something similar to that?
My God!, JL will have a cow over this razor.... :)

Most traditional japanese straights have fixed blades and don't pivot and are one sided. I've seen razors like that which are real old european types.
I think one who would actually shave with that razor has to be a real macho man and very brave.
Hey!
I have one of these!!!
But mine was listed as a Chinese razor.... (My Japanese razor is a blue fixed handle.)
It even has writing on the back of the blade. Anyone know what it says?
I've cleaned mine up since these pictures and honed it a little (I couldn't help it! :)

Hmm.
That's what I thought it said too. I have not tried to shave with it yet though. I did not finish putting an edge on it.
How about the writting on the side of this Japanese one?
"Lather On, Lather off"

Thanks!
It's a rather dynamic collection...
Always changing :)
I'm sure many hear are familiar with my "I need money" Sales.
Only to see me buying a few weeks later. Damn this addiction.
However, a good number of razors do not leave my collection, which make it a liitle unique in styles that remain. I somewhat have an adversion to celluloid handle razors (had one degrade on me and take out a Puma, Duck and old Chopper) and eventually sold off all my celluloid-scale razors and a good number of plastic (1900's) scale razors.
By constatly rotating the collection, I have experience a large number of makes and styles. I soon discovered that the best razors are not always the most famous or fancy. I leave those to the guys with money :)
