well...for $4 i figured id get it and try my hand at cleaning it up and restoring it. I have no idea if its garbage or not, so im just wondering if anyone knows about it and if it looks like it can be restored nicely.

I like the blade shape, the Sheffield steel and the fact that it has very little hone wear. The main concern is the pitting. If it's only on the surface, it can be fixed up quickly and easily. If it goes deep, removing it may damage the spine making the honing near the tip unpredictable. Let's pray that it's shallow and you better order some flap wheels to clean'er up.
That's one I'd like to have...I'd just do a quick regrind on it. Even it up, remove the pitting and any hone wear, all in one fell swoop.
