One word..."greedy"....just cause you ask..doesn't mean you're gonna get
His restorations always garner the absolute top dollar. That being said, WOW!!!
Well I suppose it's worth whatever the market decides it's worth. And somebody has decided that it's worth, well, quite a lot.
It may look to some as a case of Fool <<<>>> Money perhaps, but if it makes the buyer happy then what the hell? Besides if that craziness catches on, my restored RAD acquisitions may finally pay off in a big way one day. :)
I was a buyer at 600 but this buy is hell bent on beating me I feel like going to 900 just to drive the price up. What's the worst that happens I get stuck with it lol
And I forgot to add... that is one beeeeeautiful blade!
Yeah, it started at $9.95. It's a seller's dream, two guys really want it and you've got a bidding war.
It's sure is pretty but, a little too high price for me!!
Maybe it's time to put a few W&b's on the bay!!!:dropjaw:
Bidders can be crazy. But he does very nice work and puts a top notch edge on his blades.
If i was going to spend that kind money i would have a custom made for me.
That looks very nice.
This seems to be the most recurring type of threads on SRP.
Worth is, as always, very subjective.
The motivations for buyers on ebay are as diverse as there are members.
Some seem pricey to some, yet they are bargains to others.
Diversity is the spice of life:)
If you got the change why not? ;)
Wow.................holy cow.
Gotta hand it to CFM,has been the top dawg on Ebay for yrs.
Resto work is top notch and his photo skills are his biggest selling point.
One thing I found really funny a few yrs back on another shaving site (he monitors them all).
I won one of his auctions, for what I no longer remember,my screen name on the site and on the bay was the same,I commented that the Item I recieved looked nothing like the auction pics.He blocked me from ever bidding on his items again:)
One thing we can all agree on - it's sure going to be fun to see what it sells for:D
The Cedarman has out done himself!! More power to him!
Interesting how touchy these sellers can be. There's a guy that sells early SS Gillette razors. He had unboxed undate coded razors for sale as being date specific. '1948 Gillette' I sent him a pm asking how he could tell? And he stated he had been doing it for years and 'he knew!' then Banded me from buying from him. No great loss!
If someone wanted a _new_ near-wedge, 1-1/16" blade, I suspect he'd pay close to the auction price.
From that point of view, the price isn't absolutely bonkers. But it's breathtaking.

All you have to do is look at the bid history. Then look at the bidders. Quite simple, really!
Still, that is a bunch of money for that razor.
I've owned a couple of these thinking they surely were the bees knees, and LOVE Sheffield wedges in general, but the best I can give this particular model is "meh". I'd take a dozen of W&B's 7/8's instead, I get a far better shave. YMMV, but this is not my personal holy grail. To each their own!
I bowed out a while ago an opted for a beautiful restoration by Max that is in its way

Yea that what i love about the no reserve auctions.
the seller gets what the market being willing to give him.
The only way i ever hit the buy it now button.
if the price was dirt cheap. other then that i will always pass.
