So completely new here but I've been lurking on the thought of getting a straight razor for a couple of months now and I got the tip to go here and buy one from here.
Seeing as I have great experiences buying stuff from forums before I jumped on the idea only to come here and see a completely dead salesforum.
Is there something I'm missing or?

i would normally pay.
But i enjoy the hunt and the negations.

I've been honing for free for some time - at least a year. At first, guys sent every fleabay stray, thinking it just needed honing. I'm not kidding when I say I've been sent over 15 reazors at a time from a single member - all needing resto. That actually happened more than once. I now tell guys that you have to have successfully shaved with it. This eliminates the resto work.
When new, things look different. I did alot of the same, making about every error you could think of - only to conclude the guys that said to buy from someone who uses one daily were right. I've learned a long list of similar lessons (bevel, bevel, bevel....) Its just hard to convey this to new guys. 'Wish I could.
Blom, if I can be of help finding something - I'd be happy to help. I've sent over a dozen guys to other sellers 'cause there was a better fit for what they were looking for. You can PM me for guys that I've had experience buying from, which edges were really pleasing, etc. I'm sure others could add to that experience also. Another alternative would be the Whippeddog site or buy a basic blade new that's been prof. honed.
However you proceed, I hope you get to enjoy your shaves. Its hard to describe the eye-opening feeling from the first shave - how something that sharp can be so smooth against the face. Best of luck.
There is also a Vendors Forum that has many deals, in fact I know Dylan just put some really nice razors up on there, there are more of course but I remember seeing those yesterday
If you are looking for something restored and shave ready its the best place I've found. I've purchased razors off of other shave forums and been less than thrilled. The SRP vendors (both service and products) have been excellent. You do have to be patient and you have to check the site often, but its been worth it. You see everything from Chain store "shavers" to Customs.Quote:
