So I put a snipe bid on this massive GB for $550. In the last minute, the bids were at $207. I thought I was a shoe-in. Nobody wanted this more than me. BUT, I was wrong, because SOMEBODY bid $560!

Wow that is some looking clever..sorry you missed out on it.
It was not me that is for sure...way to big for me
$560!! That's some serious coin. Bound to be another one one day SL! ;)
HA! Now we know who has the money! My paltry bid was for less than half! They ain't makin any more of those! Nice one!
I was watching that...but 12/8...I know some guys are into the size thing, but that seems downright unwieldy...
I totally agree. Makes you wonder if those were made to take super thick, neglected beards off, just so you could shave someone with a regular 8/8 razor! Or.... for sheep!
Wow about the only thing I could think to do with that beast would be to use it to quarter a chicken. :dropjaw:
I had a friend who collects high end tobacco pipes. Afraid of a snipe he bid 1k on a pipe that was probably worth half of that and ended up paying the 1k. Some other guy had the same idea but my friend had his bid in first and the first bid prevails if the they are both the same amount. He was not celebrating when he got that one.
My bet is that cheeta picked it up hahaha
I was watching that one also. Nice....
Nope! My eBay-stalking ninja skills tell me Cheetah did not win that razor. Nor did the fellow who outbid me on the unnamed swayback stub-tail, despite having put in an enormous bid on this enormous razor.
Well, as much as I didn't actually want to pay $550 bones for this thing, I would have happily sold 2 of my lesser razors to make up for the financial loss....After all, GB's of that size are about as rare as they come :(
Sometimes I'm very glad the huge razors don't much interest me. :)
I was in that up to 205. But wow i wouldnt had thought she'd go that high.
I don't understand the huge chopper thing. How would you even shave with something like that?
Is that a regrind?
The bigger the razor blade is, the less common it is. Also, GB's are uncommon as they are. That makes this razor a white elephant, and I'll bet one of the big allures is the exclusivity of the things. Plus, they're just plain fun to play with
I saw a TV show about glass, and this one maker was blowing glass the time Jesus was walking around - and this one rich guy had the world's largest collection - like 6 pieces. He was showing one glass bowl - said he paid a cool million for it. Talk about exclusivity! But would you wanna use it as your shaving mug?
I was wary about the 1.5 inch statement and asked the seller. They said: "Its actually closer to 1 1/4"-1 5/16" at the top but its hard to be exact on the overall width because the blade is tapered."
So still a gigantic blade, but I bid a lot less when I realized it wasn't actually 12/8.
I wouldn't have a single minute of fun shaving with that beast. Especially knowing I spent half a K on it. Yikes.
This might be a coincidence, but I saw that same razor (or very similar)at the Shaving Collectables meeting. Was the seller from OH by any chance?
I'd like to buy a metal detector and snoop around Lynn's workshop haha
HOLY CRAP!!!
More for me then...LOL. Dudes I didn't even know that there was something of such beauty in existance. I've been working too much lately and I've been saving some coinage cause I have to move really soon so I'm glad that I didn't see it. I think that I would have had to stop at $350. I don't think I could live with myself at over $500. Even I have limits.
Thanks for the votes of confidence. I wish I had as much money as yall think I have..LOL
