Anyone have $11,750 I can borrow?

Straight Razor Collection Barber Shop Many Hard to Find Examples | eBay

Seems a little much to me to AVERAGE $303 a razor. :dropjaw: Who knows, I am VERY new to the straight razor scene. Much like Cheetah, I have acquired a few too many razors to have never shaved with one yet. But I do have an excuse, I have been out to sea quite a bit lately. Every time I talk to my wife she annoyingly says "Another package arrived and it feels like another razor!" I know posting a live link may annoy someone, but I figured nobody would be jumping on this one, so if I have offended anyone....my apologies.

See the problem he has here is to buy a lot like this takes someone with serious coin willing
to tie it up forever. Plus when people shop for stuff and they willing to spend alot they get to be
really picky about which ones they want and are unacceptable to not even buy.
I perty sure the seller is going to have to sell as single items some will never steal a few might.
Before i die i will not be shocked if i spend that kind of coin on vintage shaving stuff in my life.
Brushs strops natural stones and hones j nats vintage strops.
i personally will never spend serious coin on mugs.
I might have so far spent 8k dollars on my stuff just to shave my face.

There is some really interesting stuff in there...I am not going to comment on value (mainly because I have no idea), but some really cool looking pieces none-the-less.

The biggest problem I would have (other than the money) is that it is so much more fun to acquire a collection over time and have the memories and stories behind each piece (even if it is something as simple as haggling with a flea market vendor over a razor laying in a blanket on the ground next to a bunch of other stuff). I guess what I mean is, it is about the journey...and this is sort of like plunking down a bunch of money and waking up at your destination with know idea how you got there;)

It looks to me that this collection was built more for scales than for the actual razors..
While there are quite a few good looking ones in there, there are also quite a few ridiculous looking ones:)
I will not be in the running for this lot!

This lays at the core of why i have bought must the stuff i have bought. It's the hunt and
the trill of getting a great deal.
When someone just simply asks for a ton of cash for something i am into it's really easy to
just walk away. Even if ya want it there no trill in buying it.

11,750? Sure that's chump change. I can send it to you this morning. Just sign the 10 page finance contract and agree to the 50% interest per month. Two rather large gentlemen will hand it to you.

This lot was up a little while back, for a slightly higher price. If I recall correctly, they had been collecting for many years, and it is very possible that they DID spend more money than the asking price in the process of gathering this collection.
Remember, once upon a time, there was no google search, and no ebay. You had to go out, and HUNT for a rare and desirable razor. Sadly for this gent, there IS an ebay today, there is google search, and some of those razors can be found today for under 100 dollars. That said, I would give your left nut to own that collection of pearl handles.

Yeah, there are some cool scales. I had never seen scales in the shape of a gun. I liked a few others, but that one definitely stood out.

I just want to know why my name keeps popping up round these parts...LOLMaybe I have shaved with some and just haven't had time to post it. Maybe I've started my on shaving blog - Cheetah Shaving Place...LOL I'm def gonna shave with minne one day and they will all be million dollar shaves cause the blades are so big!

HAHA. I was reading one of your posts about another one of your ebay scores when you mentioned you had collected 38ish choppers, but had yet to shave with one. I remember thinking to myself, "Looks like I am not the only one!" Although the majority of my collection are not choppers. I have only a few of those. Still need to send them out for sharpening/honing/scale repair/etc.

Yes, this is for scales collectors.
And honestly, it's rather cheap for that money.
Try to get scales like that fitted to a razor. You'll pay the same kind of money.
The condition of the blades is irrelevant
