    Default Reaper Madness

I was browsing the bay and noticed there as a lifetime reaper with bids upwards of $500. Do they know something I don't? I have seen some of these in decent shape go for less than $100. Help me out here, what makes this one that special?

They are a rare razor in excellent or better condition. The pouch with the 'Lifetime' imprinted is even more scarce. Little or no hone wear on that one. Way more than I would be willing to shell out but for some it is worth it I guess.

The last two I saw on Ebay went for around 100 bucks and they had some cleanup needed but no pitting seen on the pics. Maybe those that have reapers can clue me in on the range they paid, not sure if were supposed to do that or not.

I have been participating in this auction, but I guess I'm gonna give that a rest now
No worries though, there are always others

I didn't mean to discourage anyone, was just wandering if that high of a price is normal. I've only recently become aware of the reapers and seen a few of them at auction in the last few months. None were in that kind of condition but I was trying to figure what the draw was for everyone.

I think Jimmy gave you the answer and condition is key. Condition is the end all and be all for serious collectors. As you yourself admitted none of the $100.00 variety you have seen were in as good a condition. You have to compare apples to apples.

I have never seen a reaper anywhere near $100 that needed a cleanup or a little more work. Usually for that price the scales are toast and/or the blade has very serious issues.

    Cool

    Yeppers,

Reaper scales are Catalin and very susceptible to Cell Rot.. Most have warp

To find a Reaper with bright Yellow scales and no warp is very rare, then comes the normal blade issues for older razors,, Consider that you see about 20 Wonderedge razors to every one Reaper in the wild and you can see how the good ones get up there fast...

That is what a really good one looks like see how the scales are still Light Yellow and haven't started the decay... This razor has not been restored

Dont forget, there was also the DD "Lifetime" which was NOT a reaper. just a more modern "safety" type hair shaper thingy. I see those all the time for under 100
