I wasn't going to brag until I had it in my hand, but here goes:
Check out what I just bought by comparison, shave ready, cheap shipping and all
Dubl Duck Wonderedge Straight Razor *SHAVE READY* | eBay
I originally thought I wanted a round tip, but looking at this made me change my mind. :)
I was wondering where that Wonderedge would end up at. Quite steep IMO. Iv'e read that some guys think the steel is different in these razors. Me thinks its just the rarity of these razor compared to other DD.
Yeah, looks like some DD models have gone through the roof after Lynn called the Wonderedge his favorite (albeit a round one), and also some old barbers apparently said they preferred DDs. I knew I wanted a nice DD this time, but the Wonderedge was the kind that appealed most to me, and the square tip is actually something I don't already have (after thinking about it I figured the round tipped ones might be somewhat similar to my basic Dovo razors. BTW I expect only high quality carbon steel, no alchemy). At first, I decided I wouldn't go much beyond 300, but then I thought that it sounded like the seller knows what he's talking about when he says "shave ready" and I am not good at restoring blades (touching up yes, setting the bevel not so much), so it saves me the trouble of involving the honemeisters. When it got near 400 I was about to give up on this one, but I suspected that someone might have set their limit at exactly 400 so I added $2 beyond that and there you go. ......Oh, and it was also sort of to celebrate the fact that I got extended a contract I'm on.

Man you got it bad but I hear where you are coming from. Enjoy that DD.

I don't think I'd pay that much for Occam's razor!
Glad i not shopping for straight razors any more.
Prices going though the roof.
About the 'alchemy': Now that I have used it three times, I actually wonder :D
I mean, this is one remarkably smooth-shaving razor. I am honestly not sure shaving can go any smoother than this, and this is coming from someone with quite sensitive skin.
One minus point of this specific razor is the oxidation at the pivot: every time I oil it and then open and close it, some dark material comes out here (i.e. some oxidized metal seeps out with the oil). Should I be worried about this?
