Ok so it doesnt seem to have a ton of hone wear, but the handle is cracked, there is rust and pitting. Yes the rust and pitting could be easily removed because its not to deep from the looks of it but $145.00??? I dont think its worth half that in this condition...

JL that is why you didn't win it :cool: I have this exact blade and really like it...ALOT, I wanted another. Some people place a different value on things, I have been waiting on this blade to to show itself for awhile, it wasn't getting away...
I have the time/means to completely restore this blade and rescale, I will enjoy the project very much.

No offense taken at all Josh, this particular blade is not that common, the Celebrated Hollow Ground razors are pretty plentiful on eBay but this one is more wedge like and is not.
I didnt even notice that. I just assumed it was the celebrated! Very interesting, you are right its rare to see anything this size by WB that isnt the celebrated hollow ground. My mistake :fim:
To me it's worth it easily,I have quite a few of these and would not sell them for much more than that .Some of them that I got 30 years ago only cost me 2 or 3 dollars each.There are a few places where you can sell them for 300.00 to 450.00 each.I get offers for them at that price all the time.I think that they will continue to go up in price.I have some unusual ones in excellent condition that are "For Barbers Only"10/8 that I have been offered more than 600.00 for and wont sell. E bay is not the market for quality collectible razors,and is a poor indicator of price.If you are interested I can send you some pictures.I had a snipe in on this one for 130.00(wish I had of gone higher) Best Regards Gary

Gary, I dont even attempt to keep up with your bidding prices lol. Sometimes I can just tell if you will snipe a razor by its size and shape and you rarely lose from what I have seen at least.Quote:

Hmm, I don't know why it went for so much either. I've got an 8/8 "celebrated hollow ground for barber's use" with that exact same grind and with giraffe scales, and I don't think I paid much more than that for it.
Maybe its valuable becaues it *doesn't* have the engraving on the blade?
I picked up a celebrated hollow in 10/8 and 8/8 both in perfect condition on flea boy for $24US each plus postage,I guess no one was bidding that day ,I only managed to get a bid in my self by luck as I was away at the time in a small country town and walked past the local library with the missus and saw their computer so I popped in and used itQuote:
