It looks like it has some uneven hone wear on the spine. How big of an issue is that?
The white bits on the blade is flash reflecting off of vasaline, the discoloration on the scales looks to be from past cellophane tape.
I sent $50 for a different blade that must have had a hairline fracture on the tip as it snapped when he honed it. He's offering to send this one instead.
Thoughts?
How does it compare to the one you ordered? Was the original offer unhoned and honing was an extra you asked for? If honing was an extra that you asked for the situation would be more trustworthy to me. If the original offer was for a prehoned blade then I would be suspicious of a switcheroo. Why wouldn't he have it honed before it was offered for sale?

If it's similar, or you like it just as much as the one that broke then go for it. But I agree with the previous post also. Also why not ask for a better pic? One without vaseline! Kinda of hard to judge a blade with that junk on it.
I agree with the above. Do you like the replacement offer just as well as the other one or no?
The other one was a "Premier"? and looked to be in better condition. This one is by a Solingen brand and the blade design looks better, but looks to have had more use. What do you think of the spine's uneven hone wear? How big of a problem is that?

I'd be leary of buying a blade from anyone that says the razor broke during honing. The whole deal seems a little strange.

Frankly this blade that you are showing us has more honewear than what I like to see on used razor, and also some pitting on the blade the extent is hard to see because the pics are not high quality.

you would say no i trust, same thing here. anything the vendors wanted to do with the razor he should have done before selling it. take your money, buy from the classified or a decent vendor; several of the whipped dog sight unseen razors that have been posted were in better shape than the offered replacement.
