'A raising tide lifts all boats!' I have about 50 SuperSpeeds I'll let go for 75$US each. P&H 20$US each. Deal!
I suppose the seller is quite happy with that sale.
It just goes to show that some are more capable and/or willing to pursue their desires than others..
With a little patience, that kind of razors can be had for a fraction of that amount.
next time I'm tempted to buy a de for 906 pounds would somebody in the Tennessee area PLEASE slap me upside the head.
that right there Is Two decent guns or seven very nice goatskin Bibles. or on the crazy side you could getalmost 30 straight razors from whipped dog sight unseen
I would never drop that amount on one. That being said, to a collector, that is the probably the mintest one I have ever seen along with all the packaging.
Lmao. Jut sayin'. But hey there's a buyer out there for everything I guess.
He failed to mention it was probably used by the King. That would make it cheap, depending on the King.
What the..? My camera didn't cost that much! :O
Birken bag, everyone should have at least one ..... but don't hold your breath ...... :nono:

Here is some information I found on these razors. Interesting stuff. Apparently, some were plated with rhodium, which at one time might have spiked the prices a bit (see the 5 year price chart). :p Not so much now.
All that aside, I wouldn't bid that high, but I'm sure it's someone else's cup of tea.
Never saw that page and was going to disagree with your post until I read it. Very instructive. I was under the impression that all British Aristocrats were rhodium plated. I've had a few that I kept for a time and then sold. A 15, 16 and a 66 IIRC. I was totally unaware that there were 9 varying open comb models. Anyway, thanks for the instructive link.
Jimmy, I thought I read that somewhere too. I wanted to double check, and found that page. Of course, the person who posted that article on the internet might be a french model for all I know. ;)
Always taking it for what it's worth . . .
If I had $1000 to spare. I would ditch it into a razor I liked/really wanted. Hell I think we all would! Looking at this from my broke ass perspective, the price seems high. When I finish med school ... I will probably be the guy people are saying is ridiculous for spending $1000 on an 11/8" anchor razor LOL
From my perspective as a SR collector, that's not even a razor, just a razor holder!
I know what you mean. I think of them as 'contraptions'. OTOH, a British Aristocrat is a thing of beauty to behold. I have some vintage DEs that are contraptions but beautiful contraptions and I really like having them. It is kind of like the ocean, I rarely go there but it is nice knowing it is 8 miles east if I ever get the urge.
