Question - hopefully Correct Forum - Service or Self

Hi Friends - regarding the 3 razors I purchased at the yard sale, shaved with the Solingen Holeka, and it was almost perfect, maybe some more stropping will do.

Either way, question is, need to have the other two, probably all three, honed and polished.

Should I pay the $120 for all three razors, or dive in and get a honing stone and try this myself. Have never done this myself.

One of the razors has an ever so slight bend, like a tiny line (can't see it in the photo) and I am wondering ofcourse does this pose an entirely different problem.

Should I bite the bullet and send them out first time, then in a couple of months learn to hone? Or should I, for the price, start now?

I would think at the most honing for three blades would be $60? Now polishing all three blades to look new or like new and the scales, I think would be closer to your number or more. But that's a restoration

I think you need to look in the classifieds pick a member close to you and send them out. Save one to have a benchmark down the road. If you are stropping well and don't have any accidents the deterioration of your edge should be slow and sneak up on you, thats when the benchmark is most useful. Also by the time they need a re-hone it will be more of a touch up than a full reset. Also you will have had time to contemplate if you want to start honing or keep with the pro edge. Just my point of view.
