This sounds good and don't be afraid to do a lot of laps if that is true. I do 25 linen 75 to a hundred leather on my ducks.

I guess it is more a matter of pressure, a factor always being negative in every aspect of straight razors and shaving.
1) Never use pressure while honing
2) Never use pressure while stropping
3) Never use pressure while shaving
In particular, when you shave, the more pressure, the more the skin will bend, the less effective the shave will be.
Pulling is also a matter of angle. We all know getting a comfortable shave with a straight razor takes time and experience, of course, a razor with a good edge as well.
Take your time and keep on experimenting, possibly by using the same razor, in order to understand the best angle for your face and its spots, as well as pressure. A razor should cut with just the weight of its blade and you should just follow the motion with no pressure.
Keep on trying: you will be successful in having a comfortable shave with no pulling!
