looking out to tomorrow

:gwh:I started back into straight razor just a little more than 2 months ago. I had a few razors but have acquired a few more. some round points and some square points. my question is if I mute the points to keep from stabbing myself how bad will that hurt the resale value of the blades. I really don't intend to sell any of them but one day my wife will.

When done properly a few honing cycles will bring the point back completely.
So if done properly it will not detract from the razor in any way shape or form.

Spike points are my favorite razors to shave with. I would hate to see you mute it. Try working with it, you may find after a while you like it better then the round points;)

If you're worried about resale value and don't like the spikes why not sell them now and buy round points only?

I don't believe in altering them like that.

I'm with the spike fans, they are very useful under my nose. To get accustomed to them, try shaving with just the center and heel of the razor. Be careful of your ears when you do ;)

I myself have found precisely the same thing. Usefull under the nose. Don't get me wrong. I've ignored the points presence and paid for it once or twice, but such is learning the craft...

Ah, of course, I bled some myself. But after maybe 5 shaves, I got used to it and now I don't even have to think about the spikes anymore.

Hah, you got me there! But hey, what's life without a little blood every so often.

its really not my ears I worry about. don't shave close to them. so far my left arm and hand wont let me use them on the left side. I cross over with my right. some times the blade tilts and I paint every thing red.

thanks the article was very informing. i'll put it to use. I really like the razors and the way they look.

Practice makes perfect...Or more correctly, Perfect practice makes perfect. I swap hands as the need arises.
