Hi everyone
Nice to see so many people interested in SR shaving. Today is the start of my third month using a SR. This morning I decided to try a Shavette and discovered how dull my SR are. I am a little surprised since the two I have are less than three months old. Has anyone else had this issue so soon into using a SR?

hello and welcome.
your edges just need refreshing not a full hone. look at getting chromium oxide to apply to a strop, but not your main one or balsa wood.
a straight razor will never get as sharp as a shavette but will be smoother and more forgiving

Thanks for the response. I was wondering whether or not the SR should be as sharp as the shavette. I had a lot of tugging and pulling after about three shaves with the SR. I will follow your suggestion, thanks again

the edge does last way longer than three shaves. you will probably just need a shallower angle

Was the str8 ever properly honed??

where did you get your straights from?
here is a good refreshing vid

From your post it sounds like you had about 3 good shaves before it started pulling. If so I would be looking at your stopping also as stopping alone should have kept it in shaving condition at that stage.

Thanks for you direction. Did the chromium paste on a strop. Then restropped. Watched my angle and got a terrific shave. Thanks much again. I think I was applying too much pressure on stropping which I corrected. You saved me the cost or getting a new hone applied. And thanks for the great video.
