The classifieds is one of the most recommend places to buy as they are members and hav a reputation to uphold. If unsure still just ask we are always willing to help. Ed

My last two or three were from classifieds.
While 99.9% of transactions through the SRP classifieds have been satisfactory to buyer and seller I must point out that SRP is providing the convenience for our members but doesn't guarantee outcomes or mediate between buyers or sellers. Always pay with PayPal "goods" and their buyer protection policy is the mediator.
Very safe, this is a community unlike ebay or somewhere else. The vast majority of sellers on here take their reputations very seriously and shave ready here means shave ready. I've bought and sold many on here with zero issues.
This is probably one of the safest place to buy a used razor for a newcomer
Yes the classifieds here is a fantastic setup to buy and sell straights from honest people.
Nothing but good things to say about the classifieds. If you have questions about a particular razor just ask the seller.
In my short time on here, and in the few encounters I've had with other members, I can honestly say that communication, speed, courtesy are all better than on any other site that I'm a member of. It still amazes me how helpful everyone on here is...

You can buy from the sellers here and be certain they are going to stand by their product

IIRC I have bought about 3 razors through the classifieds here and have been satisfied with the transactions. With that and the previous posts I think it is safe to say in answer to your original question that it is "generally" safe to buy from the classifieds but like everything in life there are no guarantees.

Several of us here have met each other and had work done for us by other members, who post on the classifieds. We have direct personal experience. I applaud your skepticism though.
I will also point out that eBay sellers take their reputation pretty damn seriously too.
I bought a razor recently, after delivery a $1 credit showed up in my Paypal because the actual shipping charges were less than the estimated charges. $1!

I have made numerous classified straight razor purchases over the years and never been disappointed. SRP sellers have transaction ratings from the buyers similar to ebay.Quote:

I've bought 2 from the classifieds, with no issue, and have sold one with no issue. Had the buyer had a problem I would have tried to correct it, or refund their money upon the items return.
All 3 of my razors have come from srp members, but not via the classifieds, if you are unsure you can see how new a member is, and as has been said they also have a rating, which has been given to them by people who know about what they are buying.
