Very nice, it will only get better :D
Great result! I still remember the first time I stood with the straight in front of my face, took a deep breath, and said "All right, let's go!" As Yves81 says, your best shaves are yet to come. (Along with some setbacks, but solving these just makes it all the better.)
Both halves of this statement are very true. Some setbacks and frustration will occur on your wet shaving journey, but do not get discouraged. Every time you concur a straight razor hurdle, it feels awesome. You'll almost want to have problems thrown at you just so you can overcome them and feel great every time you touch a straight razor!
Congrats and funny enough I nicked myself in the exact same spot my first time
The hardest spots for me right now are my upper lip and the bottom of my chin. Once I get the areas down I should be golden and might consider tackling my head instead of using disposables.
Novinaj1, congratulations on making it through your first shave. I just actually just finished my first 5 minutes ago. I got through mine without a nick, but I do have a little burn on my neck. I think I might have been fighting the grain as my hair grows in at an awkward angle.
Sounds like a good start. Enjoy the rush but don't let your early success lead you down the path of over confidence. You won't like what's at the end of that path.
I'm glad to hear that it went well :)
Yes, the chin is a bitch. I cant say that the chin is a breeze for me yet but it gets better.
Congrats. I wish my first had been so good, they got better though.
Just finished my second shave, no blood . My face is a little wind burned from that nice warm (-3 this morning, warmed up to 23) breezy day in Chicago land. So my face is a bit soar but still loving the feel of the shave.
Very nice, and congrats!! I still manage to nick myself slightly on the mustache area. What is your approach? The last time I tried XTG on that area and cut myself twice. When I go in a downwards motion I don't nick myself but I don't do as good of a job. That part is so tricky for me as I'm still new to straight razor shaving as well.
Also, on the mustache area, if you're not already, really pull up on the nose and open your mouth in order to stretch the skin well.
