Doesn't matter where you got your razor if it isn't stropped properly. (Thanks for supporting SRD though)
The Adam's Apple is the anti-crown on our head. If the crown proper (the part where all your hair swirls) was the North Pole, the Adam's Apple would be the South Pole. It's a swirl. Everybody has one. They are all different kinda.
I make north and south passes on the neck. that's it, it covers a bit of WTG/XTG/ATG without any extra thought. Anything more can cause problems and close enough works, i'll shave again real soon.
You need maximum sharpness and minimum pressure and good stretching. Although "chin-up" seems like a good stretch, a lateral tug can be good there too.
Make sure that blade is properly stropped and sharp, try to remove the lather without even feeling pressure.
I have found, 1.5 years into it (touch keeps developing), that I can shave over and around pimples/bumps with a properly sharp straight easier than ever before.
Hang in there and go light, be sharp.
