aannnndddddd i just noticed the introduction section... off to a great start lol
Hello and welcome. I recently put my hands on one for the first time. They are a nice blade, perhaps in time I will also join that club.
Thanks guys. Yea I've heard nothing but good things about Ralf Aust. I'm a little scared to be going full hollow on my coarse beard but.. we'll see how it pans out.
alzwow,
Welcome to the forum!! :)
You'll like the Ralf Aust. With a good edge, which it will have from SRD, good prep and technique....it'll shave a coarse beard very well. The good prep and technique are in your hands and the technique takes some practice, so don't get discouraged if the first shaves don't seem to go well.
To help, there's a video by gssixgun on the "shave test" (linked below in my signature line) which also covers prep, blade angle and expectations for a sharp razor. I think it will help a lot for your first shaves. Also the other link is an article by Lynn on the first shave...once again informative and a good read.
Lastly.....your razor will come shave ready. Just gently wipe the oil off the blade with some tissue being very careful of the edge, delicate. You can also remove the oil with a hot rinse and gentle wipe. DON'T strop before the first shave, the razor is ready to go.
It's a learning process, and takes a little time to master, so hang in there and ask when you need assistance.
Good Shaving, and.....:gl:
Regards,
Howard :)
I got a Ralf Aust as my first razor also. I'm a few months in and still enjoying it.
Hi and welcome. The Ralf Aust is a great razor and will shave great once your technique gets better. Any questions feel free to ask.
Welcome aboard, I'm a newbie as well. But I have been blessed by this forum. Everybody is very welcoming, and very willing to help us new guy.:mexwave:
