Catching normal wear and keeping the fuzz out of the flow is good for longevity, I expect.
I'll never be able to buy another one so I need to make this one last. It had 17K on it when I got it and it's about 38K now. All fluids and the oil filter are changed at 5K or less if I'm going to be on a big ride. (The air filter is a K&N and it gets cleaned and re-oiled).

Something that the corporation I worked for never understood was something farmers have known for years and years and that Oil, Grease and Regular Maintenance is a hell of a lot cheaper than Parts, Labor and Down Time.

I certainly don't see an issue with the magnetic plug. But where it sits at the end of the long tube if any shavings etc. get that far down they would stay there and not circulate anyway.

It's an anal thang, Tim! It's Roy we are talking about!
So Harleys must have a crankcase plug too?

Saw this guy on the bay last night and figured it was at a price I didn't mind gambling. The scales are broke but the bolsters look to be in good shape and the over blade seems to be just fine so rolled the dice. Should be here this weekend!!
