Most excitedly is the last piece for my taig mini lathe to allow me to cut angles and machine bevels. A compound slide.
As I’ve built up the tools for the little lathe I realized this key component, almost over a bunch I’ve already purchased was key to making some brass and other metal components I’ve been meaning to craft.
There is a bow strop I’ve been meaning to craft for some time now that has been waiting for me to acquire all the tools I needed..

Shown beside a new edc tanto blade, also grabbed on sale, for scale.
Like I said, mini (tiny) lathe, but oh so accurate..

Also grabbed some deep boring bits for some wood projects, and a new set of 1/4 drive sockets and bits for the Mg travel kit.

Cheers men, get busy in 2020

A good looking selection of bits and bobs Mike. I’ll be standing by to see what you make next.

Just a test pass on some brass pen tubing I had kicking around but happy with the taper it peels off.

This tubing is thin, actually difficult not to roll the edge while turning. But on solid brass, this’ll be da bomb.

Just ordered close to $200 worth of brass stock. Rod, block, tubing, and shim stock, as well as some threaded s.s. rod lengths.
Stuff adds up quick in the virtual shopping cart indeed, but long overdue to pull the trigger.
Hopefully it doesn’t take forever to cross the pacific as I want to get busy on things long delayed.

Predominantly yes Shaun. You remember the project.
Been in my head and on the drawing board for ages but I have now all materials in hand or on order.
Luckily I’ve thought through nearly everything I can imagine as far as challenges and difficulty of design copy while this has puttered along so I am psyched to finally get at it.
Will have enough stock to build a bunch of these when all is said and done so I do hope I get it right..
