While my grandfather had a wooden folding ruler, neither my dad nor I ever did. With that said, I do have my dad's 'Roll Up Yardstick'---

The ruler isn’t mine, unfortunately. This is just a photo pulled from the bay.

I was thinking about that. It’s in such good condition, I definitely want to save it. But I’ve never done it before, so I’ll need to look into it. I’m sure there’s a thread or two about that on this forum....

The rolled up yard stick is cool, Roy. But the wooden folding ruler is something that can be bought at most hardware stores. I seen them at Lowes just the other day so I bet they are at most places.

My friend Joel (Benz here at SRP)got me interested in Aladdin Lamps. (He had 15 or 16) They started making them way back around 1909. They still make them and consumable pieces like Chimney's, Wicks, Mantels, and other things are still available.

I've had this Green Cathedral Font (base) for quite awhile and I finally pulled the trigger on a hand painted glass shade for it. I found it at Amazon, it's a genuine Aladdin shade and the price was right at what others want--BUT--I have the Prime and so the shipping was included. It and the ring to support it landed at Ski's today. I got them home, unpacked and then I ran them through the dishwasher to get any manufacturing oil off of them.

I just wish I could share with Joel as I know he'd love it.

I've almost got another new (for me) lamp done. It's an amber Washington Drape. I've had the white shade and vintage ring on the above lamp but it'll look sweet on this Washington Drape. Since I had another Washington Drape in clear. I polished it up, put a new mantle in it and took it over to my first wife for her and her husband. She'd mentioned that she wished that she had one for display so I gave them one of mine. I didn't need 5 and I really don't need 4 but anyway, I showed them how to burn off the lacquer coating on the mantle, and then how to operate it.

While they both loved it her husband can be a bit of a fuddy duddy and he kept saying that they rarely ever had power outages and the lamp would be a nice display piece. If I know my ex--------she'll be either lighting the lamp once in awhile or insisting that he lights it up. hehehe

Can you balance that ruler at 90' off the end of your index finger?
